South Philly -> South Naples: How One Shop Is Changing How SWFL Eats A Cheesesteak

I think we can all agree one of the best qualities of Southwest Florida are our people. We have a true melting pot of the Country right here at home. From Minnesota to Ohio to the west coast and Latin America, our people are the foundation of our community. And when they set roots, they also bring with them a love of the food they grew up around. There might no better example than cheesesteaks.com

Tucked inside a new Publix shopping center sits a food truck turned brick-and-mortar fast casual restaurant called cheesesteaks.com. For those familiar with the earlier food truck version, please know they have not given up that part. Just 4 days ago, they announced on Facebook they would not give up their food truck, but look for a partner to keep slinging cheesesteaks in Bonita and the surrounding area.

In case you didn’t know, I’m a big guy. Some may say big boned, but its no surprise I know my way around a plate of food. I’ve had plenty of cheesesteaks in my life. Subway, Publix, Jersey Mike’s, Pardon My Cheesesteak, you name it. They all have good qualities and they’re are good in their own ways. Friends, please know that Naples’ own cheesesteaks.com is by far the best Philly cheesesteak I have ever had.

Their traditional cheesesteak starts with their savory ribeye - thinly sliced and perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper. Next, either with or without onions, you choose white american or cheese wiz. They cook all of this together and throw it on a roll. However, not just any other roll from your favorite local grocery store. They fly in rolls from South Philly. One of the qualities that makes bread different (take bagels from NY) is the water. I feel confident saying they take the role their bread plays extremely seriously. Combined together, this was the perfect cheesesteak and I hope everyone reading this will go try. It was full of flavor and perfectly balanced.

If the rest of the menu tastes just as amazing, I know I'll be back in no time. In additional the transitional cheesesteak I had, they also have different variations including pizza style and buffalo chicken. Additionally, you can devour their cheesesteak, or a different style, in dumpling form. Maybe you think you’ll be too full to try both? You can order the dumplings to-go and take them home to bake. No matter what you choose, I’m sure your next visit will be like mine: One where I starve myself for two days before and then order half the menu.
